ISMG 6880 – Intrusion Detection and Incident Response
Thursdays 6:30-9:15pm

A topic of increasing importance and interest in the world of information systems and business is malicious intruder detection and the response procedures required to secure business systems once an intrusion has occurred. It is critical that the organizations dependent on information technology have incident handling procedures when computer intrusions occur. By having proper incident response procedures, organizations can quickly recover from intrusions and where feasible bring perpetrators to justice. This course will provide the student the opportunity to learn about the elements that comprise Intrusion Detection and Incident Response.

INTB 6500 – International Business Consulting
Tuesdays 6:30-9:15pm

This dynamic, hands-on course offers graduate students the opportunity to work with a company at the CEO/President-level or equivalent to create or expand plus add value to the firm’s international business geographically, strategically, operationally and functionally. This course differs from others as it is an experiential, action-learning course – meaning that there is very minimal structure. We are contracted to the company thereby providing students with “on the job” strategic and tactical learning from the ground up that complements, but does not fit neatly into, the typical lecture-style classroom setting.

RISK 6309 – Strategic Risk Management

This course introduces strategic risk management, the process of managing the uncertain and unknown risks to a firm’s plans to add value to its owners and society.

RISK 6809 – Principals of Risk Management and Insurance
Tuesdays 6:30-9:15pm

This course prepares students for advanced work in insurance and risk management. The course first covers the nature of risk and risk fundamentals, insurer operations and insurance regulation. It then considers the principal techniques of managing risk exposures and the basis of decision making in management of business and personal risks.

MGMT 6825 – Sustainable Change Leadership: Turning Business Into a Force for Good
Tuesdays 6:30-9:15

If you are looking to deepen your knowledge of sustainability, develop your leadership and change management skills, learn what it takes to transform a traditional business into a force for good and make an impact – this course is for you! Many business leaders face a major challenge: overcoming resistance to the idea that it’s possible for a business both to improve its environmental and social impact AND to deliver outstanding returns at the same time. You will learn how to overcome this challenge from business leaders who have worked with B Lab’s B Impact Assessment tools to change the way their companies operate and learn to be an effective agent for sustainable business change. (This course fulfills the experiential learning requirement)!

MGMT 6830 – Marketing & Global Sustainability

Marketing & Global Sustainability explores how companies around the world implement sustainable marketing practices. How do companies innovate for sustainability and competitive advantage? How does sustainability affect brand equity? What is greenwashing and why do companies do it? What are socially-conscious consumer segments? How do companies design sustainable supply chains? This online class uses Harvard-style business cases supplemented by articles, TED Talks, LOHAS videos, Wharton Knowledge papers, and other current sources. Recommended for MS Managing for Sustainability (M4S), MS Marketing, MS IB, and MBA students.

MGMT 6804 – Bargaining and Negotiation
Mondays 6:00-9:15

Through simulations, role-plays and personal experience, students will practice and develop their negotiation skills and see how negotiations differ depending on the type of situation encountered. Specific topics covered include: the nature of negotiation, the role of negotiation context, interdependence and power, strategies and tactics of distributive bargaining, strategies and tactics of integrative bargaining, negotiation ethics, and interpersonal conflict resolution. The course will help you think about, practice, and improve your ability to negotiate and bargain your way through life (both personal and professional).

MGMT 6610 – Business Strategy Lab
Mondays 6:30-9:15

MBA teams will design and execute projects that influence strategic change for a client company. We’ll be collaborating with and consulting to Senior Executives from a Financial Services firm on a strategic challenge they’ve identified. You’ll prepare a team charter, project scope of work and work plan, conduct research, analyze information, collaborate with the client, problem-solve, identify actionable strategic ideas and timelines, and present your final project at a reception with the client. Note: most evenings the class will meet from 6:30 to 8:00 pm because the course is client focused and much of the work is completed in small teams outside of class.

CMDT 6782 – Commodity Data Analysis
Thursdays 6:30-9:15

This course is an applied introduction to commodity data analysis. Students will learn how to analyze commodity prices using quantitative techniques. Relationships between commodities and the global economy will be investigated. In addition, commodities will be looked at as an asset class and cross-asset relationships will be studied. Students will be introduced to forecasting techniques and be able to develop and evaluate various forecasting models. Students will work with the open source R software environment throughout the course and gain proficiency.

MKTG 6820 – Sports and Entertainment Marketing
Thursdays 6:30-9:15

Required for Sports & Entertainment Specialization, Elective for MBA and MS Marketing. This is a course where you meet & engage with real life Sports Marketing and Entertainment Speakers and projects. Sports and entertainment activities are a growing source of economic activity in the Denver Metropolitan area with four major league sports teams, several major ski areas, a major cultural complex, and a host of companies engaged in production and distribution of entertainment medium. Past speakers in the course include executives from the Broncos, Aspen Skiing, Anschutz Entertainment Group, NASCAR Sponsorships and many others.
